What to Bring to The Grand Canyon- Checklist
The Grand Canyon is a destination that everyone should experience at least once in their lives. You may think you know what it looks like from pictures and movies, but there is no way to truly grasp the scope of it without being there. The wild, rugged landscape is breathtaking. It’s also a demanding environment to navigate.
Buck Wild Hummer Tours was established to let people see the Grand Canyon up close from the comfort of a Hummer, so you won’t need to come equipped for an overnight stay in the park. However, you will still be exploring in an extreme climate, so there are some things you should bring along to ensure your comfort. If you are interested in guided hiking, Buck Wild now offers hiking tours as well, so you don’t have to wonder where the best spots and sights are along the Southern Rim.
What Should You Bring on a Buck Wild Hummer Tour?
Although you’ll spend most of your time taking in the incredible sights from the comfort of our luxurious Hummer, you will have opportunities to stretch your legs and explore. Here’s a list of things we recommend you bring with you.
- Water bottle – The arid desert air and altitude make it even more important to stay hydrated. Trust us; you don’t want the headache that will show up if you don’t drink enough water.
- Sunscreen – Although the altitude at the lowest part of the bottom of the canyon is only 2,400 feet above sea level, at the North Rim, it soars to as high as 8,803 feet. Protect your skin!
- Hat and sunglasses – Sunscreen is a good place to start, but bringing your own shade is a good idea.
- Binoculars – You won’t want to miss any of the sights, so make sure you can focus on the ones far away. Binoculars will help you see wildlife, such as elk and condors, as well as stunning rock formations.
- Bug spray – Keep the pests at bay so you can concentrate on the beauty instead.
- Hiking boots or sneakers – Leave the cute footwear behind so you can comfortably walk through the rugged terrain to your heart’s content.
- Lip balm – Did we mention how arid the desert is? A good balm will keep your lips feeling comfortable, not parched.
- Journal – If it’s your thing, this is a great place to record your thoughts and observations. This will be a day to remember, so jot down the details to enjoy in the future.
- Cell phone – You probably won’t have service in parts of the park, but you will be able to take some great pictures to remember the trip.
- Camera – For some photographers, a cell phone simply isn’t enough to capture the best pictures. You will find plenty of opportunities to use your good camera here and come home with pictures you’ll cherish.
- Appropriate clothing – We recommend that you wear layered clothing from April to September so you can stay cool in the heat of the day, but add layers when the temperature drops as the sun sets. From October to March, you should opt for warm clothes.
